Windage Trays: a lot of Hot Air? |
|
|
Cyclonic power is something to be reckoned with, particularly when it's in your oil pan.
This may not be an issue for daily driving at reasonable revs but get your crankshaft spinning fast near the surface of your oil reserve and it creates a vacuum sucking oil into its revolution that requires power to swing around. Power that could be driving your tires.
That's why some guys turn to windage trays. These simple solutions fit in-between your oil pan and crank to keep the oil moving through the course it was engineered to while the circular air force continues to push the crank without being burdened.
Many late model engines already have this feature in play but for you muscle car fans, there are aftermarket options.
A great place to start looking is Milodon's website. |
