Demystifying Carb Spacers |
|
|
When your gasoline hits the cylinder and ignites in a fiery explosion topping a thousand degrees, it's hard to imagine cooling that fuel / air mixture by a small percentage would increase power.
Carb spacers can be a useful tool in shaping intake mixture and isolating your carburetor from contact heat off the engine which can result in cheap power gains if you find the right fit for your setup.
There are some great online resources that explain the theory and application of these devices along with what they can and can't accomplish for you.
With this knowledge you'll probably be tempted to try them out, and you'll have plenty of options to choose from. Aluminum, polymer and even wooden spacers all alter air flow and cool your fuel, giving you a denser mixture.
There are even spacers available for unique motors like straight 8's and stovebolt 6's.
Let the hunt begin with a visit to Jeg's for three dozen styles and manufacturers to choose from. |
