Modern Metal Repair with Body Solder |
|
|
Four days ago thousands of men made a New Year's resolution to complete the bodywork on their car. Today some of them are realizing that smearing plastic body filler onto all that gorgeous metal just feels wrong.
If you have a metal addiction, follow down the paths of our lead slinging forefathers with some new safety minded twists.
Breathing in particles from the lead and tin compound used in the original lead sleds had serious health risks, but new copper and zinc replacements meld metal without deadly results.
Like they say, if it's steel — it's real, and in this case real means body solder can flex and dent with body panels instead of cracking and flaking off in a rigid mess.
A variety of kits can be found that come with an instruction video and everything you need to get started. Some are so affordable that they're worth buying just to learn a new skill and keep the lost art alive.
Browse through some of the lead free body solder kits available on Eastwood's website. |
