Same Shoe for On and Off the Course |
|
|
Pardon us, partner, but we're compelled to contaminate our golf world a bit with a baseball metaphor. See, Ecco Shoes has hit a "walk off" home run with the new Golf Street Premier. Wear them for playing a round, and then walk off the course to play around in the real world—without changing shoes.
When we tried them, it was tundra time here in the Upper Midwest, which meant hitting on a golf dome mat. Two thumbs up! It's a smart-looking leather shoe that can "pass" on and off the course, a point not to be dismissed. In a restaurant, you don't want to be judged as a Roy McAvoy type ("Tin Cup") because you're obviously wearing golf shoes. With the Golf Street Premier, no worries. You can't wear them in a high-end eatery, but you'll be fine most other places.
The Golf Street Premier has comfort you'd expect from Ecco, and the 1/8-inch cleats (81 per shoe) provide a solid grip on mats—and black ice, for that matter. Probably the same grip on grass, although wet grass would be questionable.
Still, the Golf Street Premier's an excellent choice for traveling light on buddy trips.
