Hate Driving? Create a Private Garden Oasis and Stay Home! |
|
|
Summer is almost here! And just as our annuals and perennials start to take off, so does the annual hike in gas prices. This year, instead of driving halfway across the country, save some cash and create a relaxing getaway in your own backyard.
Creating a private retreat for your "staycation" is easier than you think. Start with these tips:
Find some gorgeous garden structures.
Define your space with garden structures such as pergolas and gazebos. If you don't have the budget or construction skills to add larger structures to your yard, use a trellis covered with vines to create a living screen.
Add plants for privacy.
Plants are another way to define a space and create a feeling of seclusion. Use perennials, annuals, vines, ornamental trees, and shrubs alone or in combinations to create a sense of enclosure for your outdoor room.
