Tips for Smart Mailorder Shopping |
|
|
You don't have to wait until spring to start gardening. If your green thumb is itching, fire up the computer or grab that stack of catalogs and order yourself some spring treats. Your local garden center can only afford to stock so many plants, but mailorder sources give you a tremendous selection of all your favorite plants—and some you've never heard of!
To get the most for your money, follow these tips from the Mailorder Gardening Association:
Order early. Seeds and plants are produced at least a season in advance, so once a certain plant is gone, you're out of luck.
Refuse substitutions. If a plant you ordered is sold out, mailorder companies may send you a substitute. If you don't want substitutions, let them know when you're ordering.
