Catfish Breaks Georgia Record by 5 Pounds |
Records are made to be broken, and a big one just fell in the Peach State. Earnest Timpson caught an 80-pound, 4-ounce blue catfish a few nights ago that looks to break the Georgia state record by 5 pounds.
Timpson caught the fish on the Chattahoochee River, just below the Fort Gaines dam. He battled the 49-inch beast for 45 minutes before wrestling it into the boat all by himself. The big cat whipped him. "When I got it in the boat, I laid it down and I was through for the night," he said, admittedly exhausted. "I didn't want to catch nothing else."
Timpson's energy level spiked again when two DNR rangers officially weighed the fish in front of a crowd, revealing its record-breaking weight.
