Beads Are More Than Bling

Paul Kosmatka
Beads on a spinner rig or 'crawler harness aren't just bling put there to keep the whirling blade from knocking against the hook. Hardcore walleye trollers will tell you that just the right combination of plastic or glass will trigger a ton more strikes. Why else would they be willing to lose a half night's sleep before a trip hand-tying their own custom setups?

The guys at Lindy Tackle must have had one too many of those late-night sessions because their new lineup includes a slug of pre-tied spinner rigs and 'crawler harnesses. Their holographic-pattern blades and amazing pearlescent beads mimic specific forage species almost perfectly.

Rainbow smelt, golden shiner, perch and nine other patterns cover all the baitfish walleyes typically target, right down to the 3D effect on natural fish scales. Plus, the single-hook rigs and double-hook harnesses are tied on 72 inches of 14-pound fluoro, which is stiffer than mono and won't twist as easily.

Lindy just introduced these beauties yesterday at the giant ICAST fishing tradeshow in Las Vegas—and yep, they're already hanging on tackle shop pegs. Pick up a couple, go to bed early and you won't risk sleeping through the pre-dawn bite.
