Bare Your Talon And Catch Fish
boat
Editor's Note: The annual International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades (ICAST) begins today, and is THE tradeshow where manufacturers from around the world introduce all the hot new gear anglers will soon find in their local tackle shops. Over the next few days, Fishin' Informer will bring you the latest and greatest from the show.

Locking your boat in the perfect position to make that cast, or drop that jig, where you want it multiplies your odds of success more than most things you can do. Today, Minn Kota introduced the Talon, an electric-power, shallow-water anchor system that instantly pins a fishing rig to bottom with a single press of a button on a wireless remote control. Much faster than dropping anchor, with no frustrating sway on the anchor line.

The unit's Auto-Drive thrusts the spike into the bottom with a sort of 1-2-3 punch that exerts more force with each push, for solid contact. In Rough-Water mode, its wave-absorption function keeps the spike locked in place when the surface starts to roll.

It even has a safety system that sounds an alarm if the outboard is started while the Talon is still deployed. Just the thing for anglers who tend to get a little too focused on jumping to the next spot.
