300-lb Marlin Tows Kayak Angler 11 Miles |
|
|
In a real-life "Old Man and The Sea" experience, Howard "Santiago" McKim hooked a 300-pound marlin that towed him and his kayak for 11 miles during an incredible five-hour battle that included several magnificent leaps.
McKim was taping an episode of The Kayak Fishing Show off the East Cape of Baja when the fish hooked up and kicked off the epic fight, but that's just part of the story. A member of his chase crew (also paddling 'yaks), hooked a second marlin during the fight.
The result? Some of the most incredible fishing footage you'll ever see (beyond that, we're not telling what happened—watch the video and find out for yourself.
Now, if a marlin exploding through the water gets your blood pumping, you should take a look a contest that could put you in the middle of the action.
Guess the number of miles host Jim Sammons traveled during the show's first season and you could win an Ocean Kayak, clothes from Exofficio Apparel, Maui Jim sunglasses, and enough rod holders, extenders, anchor kits, etc. to outfit your rig like a pro's.
