Best Excuse Ever to Go Fishing

Not that you really need one, but hey, here it is anyway. This coming weekend kicks off National Fishing and Boating Week, June 5-13, a nine-day celebration dedicated to your favorite pastime. No, the boss ain't gonna give you any paid time off, but there is one pretty sweet perk—you and any one else you care to take along, will be able to go fishing without having to buy a license.

To honor our sport, and encourage more people to give it a try, most states set aside one or two Free Fishing Days during the week. No doubt you purchased your license weeks ago, so look at this as the perfect opportunity to take someone else out on the water—someone who's never been fishing before, or gave up the sport for whatever reason.

It's the one thing you can surely do to help keep sportfishing vital ... maybe even invite the boss into your boat in exchange for a little PTO.
