When Mother Nature Slaps; Slap Back! |
|
|
Just because it's raining ... or sleeting ... or snowing, doesn't mean the fish won't bite. But you can't catch 'em if you're snug, warm and dry next to the living room fireplace. What you want to be is snug, warm and dry out there with the fish. Here are a few good options to make it happen:
- To fish through the occasional rainstorm, a good lightweight suit like Frogg Toggs may be all you need. This type keeps water out, packs easily into a duffle and is breathable—an important comfort feature.
- Choose gear that's a bit beefier, like Cabela's Space Rain Ultra Pack or Gill's Pro Top and Inshore Lite pants to stand up to heavier weather. Things to look for include adjustable cuff and neck openings, zipper storm flaps, and reinforcement around problem areas—butt, knees and elbows.
- Deflecting the worst of Mother Nature's wrath requires stepping up to gear like Bass Pro Shops 100mph Gore-Tex system, or even an insulated version like Frabill's Snosuit. Expect things like interior gussets, drop-down hip covers, built-in knee padding and other comfort features at this level.
Bottom line is that the right raingear will keep you where you need to be to catch fish longer.
