How to Cut Thru (Almost) Anything

RotoZip

Well, not anything. For example, we can't help you cut through the red tape of filing an insurance claim. Short of that, we can suggest a special tool that cuts almost anything.

But first, we'll offer three general rules for cutting wood, drywall, metal or tile:

  1. Cut wood and drywall with steel or carbide tooling at relatively high speeds. Metal and tile require slower cutting speeds.
  2. Use an appropriate lubricant (water or oil) to reduce heat and extend the cutting tool's life and to make smoother cuts.
  3. Diamond wheels are made for cutting tile and masonry, while bonded-abrasive wheels are best for cutting metal.
Of course, every job is different and may require a different tool, such as a circular saw, grinder or jigsaw. One of our favorite all-purpose cutting tools is the RotoZip RZ2000 Variable Speed Saw. Although it's not the best tool for every job, when equipped with the right bit it cuts through (almost) anything.

Another Option. The RotoZip RZ01-1300 Cut-Off Spiral Saw allows you to make freehand cuts on wood, cement boards, ceramic tiles, dry wall and a number of other materials. The RotoZip's soft handle is extremely comfortable.

And Another Option. Ditto the above, but the RotoZip RZ05-2300 Cut-Off Spiral Saw's removable hard handle features convenient bit, wrench and collet storage, keeping accessories close at hand.
