Painters, Perk Up! What Color is My App? |
|
|
We get annoyed by those smart-phone navel-gazers doing whatever it is they do with their thumbs that always seems more important than paying attention to us. So we're pleasantly surprised to discover these two free iPhone apps for DIY painters; the apps almost justify the oblivious behavior — especially when we're the app users.
- ColorSnap from Sherwin Williams, allows you to use a photo (or shoot a new one) on your iPhone, and then extract a color sample from it, which you can match to an existing color swatch. And the phone's GPS can direct you to the nearest Sherwin Williams store.
- The Paint Quality Institute offers PaintRemedy, which provides a quick photo reference of common interior and exterior painting problems. It also gives definitions of problems, causes and cures.
Eventually, we'll all have to act on all this virtual stuff. But hey, if you need help taking action, well, there's probably an app for that.
